Graffiti Problem at Optimist Park and Fuller Elementary School

Without even looking for it, TempeHiker is seeing more and more graffiti in Tempe. This is especially true in his neighborhood. One day TempeHiker took a short walk for the sole purpose of documenting Tempe's graffiti problem. He came home with 22 graffiti pictures.

Our short walk begins with us heading north on Price Road in between Baseline and Guadalupe.

This wall had graffiti, but it has been removed. It appears there was more graffiti at this spot, but it too has been removed.

This light pole has graffiti on it and so does this speed limit sign.

We are done walking north on Price Road and are heading west down a city maintained walkway. There was graffiti on this sidewalk section and this sidewalk section.

We are at Fuller Elemetary school on Country Club Way.

This Optimist Park sign along with this Optimist Park sign have graffiti on them. This crime prevention sign has been defaced.

Most of the picnic tables at Optimist Park have graffiti on them.

While walking home on Country Club way we found another speed limit sign with graffiti.

Update::2006.05.12

TempeHiker has decided to do a story about the graffiti war occuring at Optimist Park in Tempe. It is a story because he observed graffiti (which was documented above), then the graffiti it was gone (i.e. the City cleaned it up), and then the graffiti came back. TempeHiker predicts the City will clean the graffiti again and that the graffiti will return. He is curious as to how many times this cycle will occur before Tempe does something to stop it.

Update::2006.05.27

The graffiti on the picnic tables at Optimist Park have been painted over.

Update::2006.05.29

One picnic table got graffiti'd on Memorial Day, 29 May 2006. The table was clean at around 9:00am, but it had graffiti at 12:30pm. The only reason I checked the park was because while walking on Country Club Way we saw the utility boxes had graffiti yet again. In addition, trash bin had more graffiti on it.
