Road Trip 2001

The road trip to the grasslands of Kansas involved driving 2848 miles in 7 days.

The path followed went Arizona to New Mexico to Texas to Oklahoma to Kansas to Nebraska to Colorado back to Oklahoma back to New Mexico back to Arizona.

Adventures included driving blind on I-10 (NM), a near head-on with a huge truck (TX), and exploring a dead hotel (NE).

Places visited include The Thing (AZ), White Sand Dunes National Monument (NM), New Mexico State University, Texas Tech University, Cadillac Ranch (TX), Geographical Center of the 48 Contiguous states (KS), Thurman Cemetery (CO), and a corner in Winslow (AZ).

I met two special people -- first Shirley, then Bill.

A road trip has three parts: it's planning, it's implementation, and it's trip report. Here is a hyperlink to the road trip plan that was written prior to the trip. The trip has been completed (i.e. implemented). At a high-level, the trip followed the plan, but the plan ended up being modified on a daily basis. Writing the trip report is fun because it allows you to re-experience the road trip from start to finish.
