This picture was taken in Lucerne Valley, California. We left Hesperia at 3:20am (yes, 3:20am--clocks were moved back an hour on us). The goal was to be in Twentynine Palms shortly after sunrise.

This portion of the roadtrip was done in extreme darkness. We pulled off road and stopped to stand under a sky full of stars. We had what appeared to be absoulte quiet. Two pictures were taken, but they didn't work.

We took CA Hwy-18 east to Lucerne Valley. At Lucerne Valley we took CA Hwy-247 south to Yucca Valey.
