The Salton Sea -- From the Ground and the Air

From the Ground

During Spring Break 2003 I visited the Salton Sea from the northeast. You travel through harsh desert only to come upon desert farming. Beyond the strawberry field is the Salton Sea. The Salton Sea is a huge body of water where one can stop to watch birds, camp, or have a picnic.

From the Air

On 17 May 2004 I flew from San Diego, California, to Phoenix, Arizona. The flight path goes over some of the harshest desert in the United States, but when you near the Salton Sea the desert becomes a farmland oasis that returns to desert beyond the Salton Sea.
