ThurmSpeaks::Community Colleges Getting Stimulus Funds

The front-page of yesterday's (2009.06.15) Valley & State section of the Arizona Republic had a report ("Stimulus for community colleges on training") about the Maricopa County Community College District (MCCCD) receiving monies that are "part of the $1 billion in education funding being made available through the Obama administration's American Recovery and Reinvestment Act." Kudos the MCCCD.

The report indicated that most of the monies will be "used to retrain workers for jobs in growth industries." Excellent, but the report went on to say the "jobs include automotive repair, information technology and health care."

If automotive repair is a growth industry, then I've missed the boat and I better start learning how to use a shovel.
