ThurmSpeaks::About Phil Gramm Quotes

Phil Gramm pissed political correctness into the wind and he got splattered in the face.

Speaking about the economy circa mid-02008...

   "You've heard of mental depression; this is a mental recession."

If enough people keep saying we're in an economic recession, then we'll end up in a economic recession. This is economics as I know it.

Speaking about America circa mid-02008...

   "We have sort of become a nation of whiners. You just hear this
    constant whining, complaining about a loss of competitiveness,
    America in decline."

I'm a whiner. The United States of American has an inflated opinion of itself. The U.S.A. might have been a great country in the past, but these days its just good enough.

While wiping the piss from his face, Gramm was quoted saying...

   "I'm not going to retract any of it. Every word I said was true."

Good for Gramm because Americans have the freedom to defend and promote their beliefs.

The following are a couple of older Gramm quotes that are true statements.

   "The genius of the American system is that through
    freedom we have created extraordinary results from
    plain old ordinary people."

   ...and...

   "Government is not the generator of economic growth;
    working people are."

Phil Gramm, who was born in 01942, is an American politician from Texas with a PhD in Economics.
