I posted the following to my AzFoo at AzCentral.com blog on 17 November 2008.title: Change.gov has low expectations for us inhabitants "Today we begin in earnest the work of making sure that the world we leave our children is just a little bit better than the one we inhabit today," wrote Barack Obama on his Change.gov website. I visited Change.gov to communicate my U.S. CTO recommendations (Vinton Cerf, Bill Joy, Dennis Ritchie) to Obama and I was more than a little bit disappointed with Obama's use of the phrase "just a little bit." I guess "just a little bit" is better than nothing, but the 21st century is the century of exponential growth and I want our world to be exponentially better than it is today. In addition, there was something about Obama's use of the word "inhabit" that didn't settle well with me. I didn't know why, but yet again I felt as if I was being talked down to by some superior human being. After finding definitions for the word "inhabit" I came to the realization that it goes well with the phrase "just little bit." Obama is getting ready to inhabit the White House for at least four years; I hope he does more than "just little bit" to improve our country and the world. [side-bar] Note to Obama: Cerf, Joy and Ritchie can think exponentially and any one of them would make an excellent Chief Technology Officer of the United States.
Speaking of change... I posted the following to my AzFoo at AzCentral.com blog on 20 November 2008.
Title: Wow... an I agree with Joe Garcia moment
Quick Hit by Joe Garcia on 20 November 02008."Change. That was the mantra of Barack Obama's candidacy, but choices for his administration so far - Rahm Emanuel, Eric Holder and maybe Hillary Clinton - look like a retread Clinton all-stars team." -- Joe Garcia, Arizona Republic
I agree with Joe!
It was just nine days ago a Joe Garcia Quick Hit prompted me to post: It is employees like Joe Garcia that makes the Arizona Republic the Arizona (inappropriate term). But today's post by Garcia proved me wrong (at least for today).
How Obama defined change back on 5 June 2008: "more of the same; static."
