Thurman Speaks To Mr. Walker

Jerry Walker is a Governing Board member for the Maricopa Community Colleges. On 10 February 2006, I emailed him the following letter. time to send

   Date: Fri, 10 Feb 2006 10:31:24 -0700 (MST)
   From: Gerald D. Thurman
   To: jerry.walker@domail.maricopa.edu
   Subject: IT operations/Tuitions

I am sending this as a computer professional who
moved into Maricopa County in 1985.

I'd like to know if the MCCCD IT operations
have examined the use of an Opsware-like system
to help them automate their IT operations.

In addition, I'd like the MCCCD to state its
position on the use of Free and Open Source
   computing tools.

   Since you are still reading...

I am currently an Instructor at SCC.

About tuitions... Gaye Murphy visited SCC to speak
with students about potential rate increases. Her
"simple" budget included monies for the hiring
   of 50 new faculty.

Question: 2005-06 "head counts" were down
approximately 3.4%, why no hiring freeze?

   Thank you for your time.

Now I will wait and see if (1) he replies and (2) he replies in a informational manner.
