Thurman Speaks About Harriet Miers Being the Best Man For the Job

We won't know until his presidency is over, but I wonder...

When George W. Bush made his list of the top candidates for the U.S. Supreme Court, Harriet Miers must have been the first name listed. Or was it?

Given our world as of 3 October 2005, could the Bush list have looked something like the following?

   1) white man
   2) white man
   3) white man
   4) hispanic man
   5) white woman
   6) white man
   7) black man

Could Bush have had some restless evenings pondering... hispanic man versus white woman? Did he sometimes wish Harriet was black or hispanic?

Let's hope the Bush list started as follows.

   1) Harriet Miers
   2) ...
   3) ...

Hmmm... I guess we will have to wait until Mr. Bush writes his memoirs in order to get some answers.
