I'm against a government shut down, but for a government shut up.
This is currently a FAQ: Who do you hold responsible for the stalemate in Washington: Republicans, Democrats, or the White House? My answer: Us... the U.S. voters.
Term limits would solve lots of problems, but the government it too big for term limits.
I agree with Mitch Zacks: "Typically gridlock in D.C. is bullish for the markets. Gridlock keeps any meaningful legislation from being passed and removes an uncertainty from the equation."

We haven't got much rain at our house in Tempe, but we did get a nice monsoon storm yesterday (8/26/02013).

Hmm... Being able to embed Facebook posts might just extend the life the MOTD.

This is the 49th edition of the MOTD. The Summer 2013 MOTD has been added to the MOTD archive.
The MOTD blog was named after the /etc/motd file used on Unix systems. Unix systems are multi-user systems and SysAdmins use the /etc/motd file to communicate messages to users upon log in.
I should let the MOTD die, but I can't. This 16-year-old blog could be deleted using one command-line: rm -rf $motd
The MOTD suffers from a severe case of linkrot (i.e. broken hyperlinks), but from day one the MOTD was considered a WORM (Write Once Read Many) resource. What you read on the MOTD is what I posted and the linkrot provides a picture of just how much the WWW has changed over the last 16+ years.
