Examples of 21st Century Computing
ScienceAlert.com.au::Computers can now automatically select the best embryos for life
"A new computer program can identify embryos with the highest potential
for a successful pregnancy, raising IVF success rates to 76%."

NewScientist.com::Computer spots rare diseases in family photos

"A computer program can now learn to identify rare conditions by
analysing a face from an ordinary digital photograph. It should
even be able to identify unknown genetic disorders if groups of
photos in its database share specific facial features."

IBM Watson posted the following on its Facebook on 26 June 2014.

"It would take one doctor 10,000 weeks to read and understand
10 million patient files. Watson does that in 15 seconds.
Allowing doctors to focus on what's most important. You."

Trust but Verify
I agree!
"It is becoming increasingly difficult to trust the privacy properties
of software and services we rely on to use the Internet. Governments,
companies, groups and individuals may be surveilling us without our
knowledge." -- Brendan Eich, CTO and SVP Engineering, Mozilla and

About Computing Bits
The Computing Bits blog was created on 14 September 2001 and it started 2014 with 568 postings. Computing Bits is a blog that supports "learning about computing a bit at a time." It is a great time to live in the computing world and I am looking forward to creating some fun bits this year.
