BARS::1 Mile From an Exit 12 in Ohio

This road sign is from the state of Ohio.

The picture of these road signs was taken by LindsayB and she emailed it (along with six other road sign pictures from Ohio) to MathBabbler on 9 April 2009. LindsayB was a MAT122 (intermediate algebra) student at SCC during the fall 2008 semester. During that semester, LindsayB submitted road sign pictures from Hawaii and Yuma AZ.

The road sign says...

+---------------+
Exit 12
US-22 OH-3
1 Mile
+---------------+
the numbers are: 12 22 3 1

the math is: log(sqrt(22 + 3)! /12) = 1

more math: sqrt((22 - 1) % 12) = 3

rsPiEval: 22 / (sqrt(12 - 3)! + 1) ~= Pi
* 22/7 approximates Pi (3.14) rounded to nearest hundredth

rsStateEval: 22 - 12 + 3! + 1 = 17
* Ohio was state number 17 to be added to the Union

number system math: (22 - 12)2 + 1 = 3

BARS math: (22 - 1) / spf(12) = 3

observe...
prime factors of 12 are 2, 2, 3
spf(12) = sum_prime_factors(12) = 2 + 2 + 3 = 7
