BARS::15 Miles From Cripple Creek, Colorado

This road sign was found on Teller One county road in Colorado.

The road sign says...

   +-------------------------------+
Visitor Center       1 mi  ->
U.S. Hwy 24          4 mi  ->
<- 15 mi Cripple Creek
   +-------------------------------+
   the numbers are:  1  24  4  15

   the math is:  sqrt(24 - 15) + 1 = 4

   observe...
      24 - 15 = 9
      sqrt(9) = 3
      3 + 1 = 4

   [solve for 'n']  sqrt(24 - 15) + n = 4
Update::2008.11.28

The following road sign evaluations (rsEvals) were added when this BARS was selected to be one of the BARS of the Week for week 15 of the fall 2008 semester.

   the numbers are:  1  24  4  15

   rs42Eval:  24 + 15 + 4 - 1 = 42
   * 42 is the "Answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything"

   rs50Eval:  24 + 4! + sqrt(sqrt(15 + 1)) = 50
   * RoadHacker was 50 years young when he found this sign.
Update::2009.02.06

This BARS was updated after it was selected to be one of the BARS of the Week for week 4 of the spring 2009 semester.

Since this BARS last update on 2008.11.28, the defactorial(n) function was added to the BARS function library and the modulo arithmetic operator % became an official BARS operator.

   the numbers are:  1  24  4  15

   the math is:  defactorial(24) * 4 - 1 = 15

   more math:  defactorial(24) - 1 = 15 % 4

   more math:  sqrt(24 % 15) + 1 = 4

   note: The defactorial(n) function also has a
          corresponding operator n~!, which is a
          BARS only arithmetic operator.

   [solve for '24~!']  24~! * 4 - 1 = 15

   [solve for '24 % 15']  sqrt(24 % 15) + 1 = 4
