BARS::Pi Street Corner in Pacific Beach, California

These street signs are on the corner of Grand Ave. and Gresham St. in Pacific Beach, California.

The street signs say...

   +---------------------+
   | Gresham St  <- 4400 |
   | Grand Ave   1400 -> |
   +---------------------+
   the numbers are:  4400  1400

   rsPiEval:  4400 / 1400 ~= Pi
   * 22/7 approximates Pi rounded to nearest hundredth (3.14)

   observe...
      4400/1400 is equivalent to 44/14   (44/14 * 100/100)
      44/14 is equivalent to 22/7        (22/7 * 2/2)
RoadHacker Nanofoo

RoadHacker drove a U-Haul van to Pacific Beach, California, on 13 October 2007. Upon arriving at his destination, RoadHacker noticed the U-Haul's resting spot was on a 4600 and 1900 street corner. Using street sign arrows, RoadHacker concluded that two blocks south and five blocks west would get him to a Pi street corner. The blocks were longer than expected, but a Pi street corner was discovered at 4400 Gresham St. and 1400 Grand Ave.

Update::2011.07.14

RoadHacker revisited this Pi street corner on 8 July 2011 and this time he made a video clip.

Let's do some more math...

   the numbers are:  4400  1400

   BARSfunc rsAgeEval:  spf(4400) + spf(1400) = 52
   * RoadHacker was 50 years young when he found this Pi street corner
     and he was 54 years young when he revisited the corner. The average
     of 50 and 54 is 52.
   * spf(n) = the sum of the prime factors of n
	  domain: n must be a positive composite number
   * spf(4400) = 2+2+2+2+5+5+11 = 29
   * spf(1400) = 2+2+2+5+5+7 = 23
