NYTimes.com::Metric Interstate Divides Arizonans

These road signs are on southbound I-19 in Arizona. [Note: The picture is on the NYTimes.com website.]

The road signs says...

+--------+ +-------------+ +-------------+
|  Intl  | |     Exit 1B | |     Exit 4  |
| Border | | Western Ave | |  189 South  |
|  6 km  | |     3 km    | |   Border    |
+--------+ +-------------+ | Truck Route |
                           +-------------+
   the numbers are:  1  4  189  6  3

   the math is:  sqrt(189 / 3 + 1) = 6 + sqrt(4)

   rsHwyEval:  sqrt(189 + 6 + 1) + 3 + sqrt(4) = 19
   * These road signs are on I-19.

   off-by-one rs42Eval:  sqrt(189 + 6 + 1) + 4! + 3 = 42-1
   * 42 is the "Answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything"
