Toyota Tops GM in 1st-Quarter Global Sales

For the first time ever (i.e. 76 years), the Japanese corporation Toyota Motor sold more vehicles globally in a quarter than Detroit, Michigan-based General Motors Corp.

Toyota sold 2.35 million vehicles worldwide in the first quarter compared to 2.26 million vehicles sold by GM during the same period.

General Motors and Toyota were founded in 1908 and 1937, respectively.
