March 2007 CPI Up 0.6%, Core CPI Up 0.1%

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) was up 0.6% in March 2007, compared to last month's 0.4%. The core CPI, which excludes food and energy prices, was up 0.1%, compared to 0.2% last month.

The BLS reported: "Overall energy costs increased 5.9 percent in March, with the index for petroleum-based energy up 10.1 percent and the index for natural gas and electricity up 1.3 percent."
