Yahoo! HotJobs Says Lots of People Looking for New Jobs

The Yahoo! press release headline caught my eye: "Nearly Half of U.S. Workers Are Expected to Search for a New Job in 2007."

"Yahoo! HotJobs surveyed more than 5,000 U.S. workers and
found nearly half plan to search for a new job in 2007.
And that number only represents those who will actively
look. Another two-thirds of currently employed respondents
said they may not actively seek out a new job, but that they
would be open to one if the right opportunity came along."
  1. No or Yes: We have enough data to define what Yahoo! means by nearly.

  2. Yahoo! "surveyed more than 5,000 U.S. workers." No or Yes: We have enough data to define what Yahoo! means by more.

  3. If Yahoo! surveyed 5,000 people and exactly half said they would be actively searching for a new job, approximately _________ of the non-active job searchers would take a new job if a better job came along.

The following was found at the bottom of Yahoo! HotJobs' press release.

"Data was collected from 5,331 employed adults in the United
States using an online survey during the last two weeks of
October 2006. Fifty-six percent of the respondents were male
    and 44 percent were female."
Exercises (Part II)
  1. Half of 5,331 is __________.

  2. ________ of the surveyed 5,331 employed adults were not male.

  3. Out of every 1,000 employed adults surveyed, ________ were female.
