The PPI (Producer Price Index) increased 0.9% during December of 2006, compared to a 2.0% percent increase last month. The December increase was higher than forecasted. Core-PPI, which excludes food and energy, was up 0.2% compared to 1.3% last month.
Some financial analysts are concerned that December's PPI increase might cause the Federal Reserve to increase interest rates to allay inflation pressures.
